Original Lead Princess Fairytale

Below is the English translation of the fairytale from the now-defunct Library of Arc-Jormu website:

Once upon a time, there was a doll made of lead. She was a princess, and she had everything, but she couldn't see her color. She couldn't help but want to see color, and she begged the gods, begged the king, begged the magician, begged the birds and even the mice.

She wanted to see the colors so badly that the lead princess finally begged the wicked devil for help. Then all the colors of the world came to the princess. But because they came all at once, the world had no color left. The princess was so displeased that she asked the wicked devil to return the colors to their original state, but the wicked devil replied, "You can't be so selfish. If you give me the most important thing in life, I will give the world back its color". He said, and then disappeared.

After all the color was gone, the world was engulfed in sorrow, and gradually the hearts of people, families, and the entire country began to sadden. At last the princess was driven out of the castle, her bedroom was gone, and all she had was a silver coin and nothing to wear. The maidservant had given her this coin at the very least.

But the princess was a responsible child, so she went to find what the devil said was the most important thing so she could return the color.

Then a poor man came to her. "Please give me some money. If I don't pay back the money I owe me, I'll have to die tomorrow". He said to her.

The princess gave the man the only piece of silver she had. "But It's okay because I have love". The princess thought

Then the man walked off.

After a while, a woman with downcast eyes came over. "I have never been loved by anyone ever since I was born. Please give me your love". She said.

So the princess hugged her. Then the princess's love began to flow out of her.

"But still I have a conscience and knowledge of right and wrong". The princess thought and walked away.

When the princess went a little way again, she saw people lamenting over an arrogant official who was in trouble. So she gave her conscience to the official.

The government official wanted knowledge so that she could make rules, so the princess gave that too. "I at least have happy memories". The princess thought and went on.

She passed through the forest and the hermit said to her, "Give me a memory".

The princess thought for a moment, and then realized she could give hers away, so she closed her eyes and remembered how happy she was. Then the memories started to sound like they were bubbling away. "May you be happy..." the princess prayed to him and continued walking.

When she arrived at the church, she found a nun that had forgotten how to pray and was very busy. The princess didn't have anything important to give her, but she remembered her faith and gave it to the nuns to help lead the people.

Having given away everything, the princess was now a mute, lead doll. She couldn’t even see the beautiful colors anymore. And yet, what little is left of her heart says, "Oh, I did not know. Although there is nothing left of me, I already had something as important as the colorful world".

Then Someone said to her "I'm glad you're finally aware of that. So I’ll be taking your lovely discovery". And then the world was filled with color again. The city, the castle, and the hearts of the people were all restored to normal.

After that, the princess didn't ask for colors anymore. Because she knew that she was surrounded by much more important things.
